Fix TouchPal keyboard (predictive text) on T-Mobile Pulse

TouchPal keyboardFor some reason, predictive text of Cootek TouchPal keyboard on T-Mobile Pulse (Android mobile phone) stops working after a while, which crashes the keyboard.

This problem has been reported on T-Mobile forums here and here.

However, there is a simple fix for this that I have discovered…

Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications.

  1. Select TouchPal and click Clear data button.
  2. Go back, select TouchPal Language Pack and click Clear data button.

That’s it – TouchPal’s predictive text would be working again without crashing the keyboard. The downside is that you would lose all your custom dictionary words, but the Cootek’s TouchPal keyboard will be working again…until next time.

Hasn’t fixed it for me. Plus the Android keyboard mode has disappeared. I have to say, this phone is the biggest pile of junk I’ve ever bought.

Fantastic. I’ve already sent back 2 Pulse phones with this exact problem – finally I know how to sort it. Bummer it happens in the first place, but otherwise it’s a good phone – so thanks for the help!

Thank you! One of the posts on T-Mobile site is mine – better to have predictive text without custom words, than no predictive text at all!
