I have upgraded my Linksys WAG354G v2 firmware to 1.01.57 and then to 1.01.58 the other day and that’s where the things got sour: wireless network has suffered a slight decrease in access range and wireless clients started failing authentication using encrypted WPA-PSK.
Upon further investigation, I found out that several people have also reported the same problems. Unfortunately, Linksys web site offers only 1.01.57 and 1.01.58 revisions of the firmware, and unfortunately, they both have the same flaw with wireless network. A temporary workaround that I have found was going into router’s settings and hitting the ‘Save settings’ button on the wireless settings page – that seemed to kick things back into action, but not for long. Increasing the group key renewal time didn’t help either.
After two days of talking to Linksys tech support using LiveChat on their web site, I was able to finally get my hands on the 1.01.54 rev.004 firmware. After downgrading from 1.01.58 back to 1.01.54 things went back to normal – wireless authentication is working again flawlessly.
To make things easier for people with the same problem, I have decided to upload the firmware for public download:
