Quicksilver on Linux? With GNOME Launch Box

Imendio, the guys behind the Planner project, are working on a Quicksilver-like launch application for Linux called GNOME Launch Box.

The program has hit another stage in development, with version 0.3 released on June 11th 2007.

Launch Box is written for the GNOME 2.10 platform and depends on GTK+ 2.6, evolution-data-server 1.2 and gnome-menus. Currently it supports the following:

  • Application starting and launch
  • Evolution contacts lookup and mail to
  • Recent files lookup and open
  • Files in your desktop and open
  • Firefox bookmarks lookup and opening
