SonyEricsson P1i iSync Plugin for Mac OS X

For those looking to jump the SonyEricsson wagon instead of the iPhone one and worrying about phone compatibility with OS X, fear no more: SonyEricsson has an iSync plugin for P1i available that allows synchronisation of iCal and Apple Address Book on Mac OS X with your phone’s Calendar and Contacts using Bluetooth.

The plugin requires iSync, version 2.3 or newer, which is included in OS X Tiger. Oh, and make sure you update your P1i’s firmware from the SonyEricsson support site before installing the plugin.

Migrating an address book from Outlook Express 5 on Mac OS9 to Apple Mail

Recently I was tasked with an address book migration from a Microsoft Outlook Express 5 client running on OS9 into an Address Book application on Mac OSX 10.3 “Panther”. Needless to say, it wasn’t a straightforward task.

Outlook Express 5 on OS9 exports the contact details in a tab delimited format, which seems to be the only format. Apple’s Address Book in Panther supports only LDIF and vCard imports. There are several ways of doing that. Read more

Safari 3 public beta

As it has been promised during WWDC 2007, Safari 3 enters its public Beta, with a Windows version.

Apparently, judging by HTML and JavaScript benchmarks based on VeriTest’s iBench Version 5.0 using default settings, it beats even Opera  in JavaScript rendering.
